star star star

  • Want more Bhutan? Extend your journey with three extra days exploring the beautiful and little-visited Haa Valley — a region that feels wonderfully untouched.

  • Cycle through the valley on a rewarding day of exploration, riding quiet roads framed by forested slopes and traditional villages.

  • Trek the Panorama Trail, an 11km walk with sweeping views across the valley, the sacred Meri Puensum, and distant Himalayan peaks, all while immersed in pristine pine forests.

  • Top it off with an unforgettable ride over Chele La Pass — Bhutan’s highest paved road — before a long, exhilarating descent back to Paro.

  • The main tour concludes after breakfast, before we set off on a scenic transfer towards Haa. Part way, we unpack the bikes and ride the final 40km into the Haa Valley (2700m) — a gently rolling road that offers the perfect introduction to this peaceful region.

Arriving by bike feels just right here; the valley is quiet even by Bhutan’s standards. Adorned with pristine alpine forests and tranquil mountain peaks, this tiny region is one of the most beautiful and isolated areas in the kingdom.

  • The Panorama Trail begins at Yangthang Monastery (2,990m), setting out along a superb trail with views across the Haa Valley, the sacred Meri Puensum, and distant Himalayan peaks, all while immersed in pristine pine forests.

The path climbs gently to around 3,150m, winding through forest, open pastures, and an unspoiled landscape dotted with monasteries. Along the way, we pass Katsho Monastery (3,030m) and Juneydrak Gompa (2,950m), before descending to Wangtsa village (2,700m).

We allow around five hours to complete the walk at a relaxed, unhurried pace — with plenty of time to take in the views.

  • What better way to end your time in Bhutan than riding to the highest road in the country? A series of eleven switchbacks leads you skyward to Chele La Pass (3,988m) — a 25km climb that feels like riding into the clouds.

From the pass, enjoy a spectacular 35km descent into the Paro Valley, winding through forest and open mountain slopes. The final kilometres roll gently along the valley floor to our hotel — a fitting and memorable finish to an epic journey.

  • The tour ends with your transfer to the Paro Airport in time for your departing flight.

Fully Guided

Our Bhutan tours are fully guided experiences with local cycling guides accompanying the group along with a support bus and truck. You will be able to hop on and off the bus as you like through the day or stay on your bike and ride. Our guides are not only excellent cyclists but will also provide all the history and stories of Bhutan that you care to hear.

For groups of 4+ people the group will be joined by Jason Williams from Pedal Pedal.

Trail Conditions

There are few roads in Bhutan so navigation is very easy. We will be following the only sealed roads in the area.

There are no flat roads in Bhutan but the gradients are not steep and we take our time to slowly make our way to the passes and descend. Anyone that needs a lift at any stage is welcome to hop in the support bus.

The highest point on this extension is Chele La Pass, at just under 4000m. We sleep at 2700m in Haa Valley, with the itinerary designed to support good acclimatisation.

As this extension follows the main tour, guests will already have spent 14 days in Bhutan before reaching the pass. Time at higher altitude is brief, and the route quickly descends again to Paro (2200m). This means that even if anyone experiences mild effects of altitude, there is a rapid and easy descent to lower elevations.
