Details
It’s been seven years since we visited this region and a full one year since the last weekend ride which came just before the first covid lockdown.
Mansfield is a great town to be based out of for a couple of days cycling being the start of the Great Victorian Rail Trail and also home to some great roads to cycle.
Mansfield is located just over 2 hours north of Melbourne so easy to reach but also worth staying a few extra days if you have time.
Book your own accommodation. Jason and Jasmine will be staying at the High Country Caravan Park where there are cabins and camp sites available. There are also hotels and motels in town.

We will be riding one day along the Great Victoria Rail Trail and another day on quiet back roads.
The Rides
Day 1 - Saturday 13 March
Mansfield to Bonnie Doon and return (minimum 38km)
Start Time: 10am
Ride along the Great Victoria Rail Trail to at least the Bonnie Doon Hotel for lunch. It is most likely that we will be able to ride further along the Rail Trail and turn around to time in for getting to the lunch point in time for a serene lunch by Boonie Doon. The trail here is flat and navigation easy. It is only 19km ride from Bonnie Don Hotel to Mansfield so a long lunch might be enjoyed.
Day 2 - Sunday 16 March
Goughs Bay Loop (46km)
Start Time: 9am
We will ride a loop south via Goughs Bay and Delatite. This not a flat ride but there is only 230m of climbing so not too hard. Heading south we will take a back road to Goughs Bay where there is a general store and coffees. From here a road heads east to Delatite before the ride back to Mansfield.
We expect to be back in Mansfield in time for lunch and the return drive for those heading home.
